
Salma Hayek Pinault born Salma Valgarma Jayek Jimenez (born 2 September 1966)[3][4][5] is a Mexican and American actor as well as film producer. Her film career began in Mexico in the telenovela Teresa, where she was a lead in the television drama Teresa (1989-1991), and the romantic drama El Callejon de los Milagros (1995) that was a huge success and earned her an Ariel Award nomination. She quickly made herself known in Hollywood through appearances in films such as Desperado (1995), From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West (1999), and Dogma (1999). Hayek's portrayal as painter Frida Kahlo in the biographical film Frida (2002) and the film she also wrote she became the first Mexican actress to be nominated to the Academy Award for Best Actress[6] and additionally earned her Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award and British Academy Film Award nominations. Hayek appeared in the action-oriented Once Upon a Time in Mexico films over the next years and concentrated more on creating.
